The hardwoods of New England and north Atlantic states are singing their swan song with a supporting chorus of yellow, orange and red. The crisp air of fall refreshes the senses yet delivers a silent warning of the long, gray winter ahead.

It was low surf and few surfers tonight at the Huntington Beach Pier. But....
The bristlecone pine grows at an altitude of over 10,000 ft. in the Bristlecone National Forest on the eastern edge of California. Many of the trees are nearly 5,000 years old with the oldest being 5,064 (germination in 3049 BC. It's location in the park is secret to help in it's protection.
