During our stay in Tuscany we lodged in an off the trail farmhouse with a wonderful couple who operated the establishment as an Agritourismo. We experienced super friendly owners, daily treats from their garden and great knowledge of the surrounding area which made photography a lot easier. If you're a traveler you can't find a better way to experience the Tuscan culture.
Agriturismo—a combination of the words for "agriculture" and "tourism" is a program created by the Italian government to promote tourism in rural Italy with the intention of supplementing income and keeping farms alive. The program is working! Tuscany is vibrant now and the winners from the program include us as well.
