It's Hot!

February 20, 2018

This is Norris Geyser Basin which ranks as Yellowstone National Park’s hottest and most changeable thermal area, making it one of the most extreme environments on the face of the Earth. Most of its thermal features have temperatures above the boiling point, which is 199°F due to the area’s elevation. This scene is surrounded by active steam puffs from live thermal action. You can see four of them the back ridge. The largest ones are to the right of this scene but this is a much more pleasing photograph.
