Siasconset or 'Sconset as the locals call it is a tiny village on the eastern tip of Nantucket. It was originally a village of whaling and fishing families which now serves as a super quiet retreat for the summer population. The water sistern in the village common was put in operation in 1776.
The cottages in the village are much shorter than other historic structures on the islane because the fishermen used their roofs to spread out their nets to dry. This image captures the essence of the little village.
