On my return to home after an exciting few days of shooting on California's great Pacific Coast Highway I decided to make the drive easier by taking the main artery of California, Interstate 5.  The weather was ominous and quick moving during the entire trip.  Then, not far from Grapevine appeared a truly rare and enormous rainbow.

I don't usually stop to photograph rainbows but this one was different. Experience told me that this image required my 300mm f2.8 lens with the 1.4x teleconverter which I quickly grabbed out of the trunk. I was fortunate to be fast because this scene was gone in seconds.
