Is This Mars?
I was fortunate to pass through Arches National Park last week. Visually it’s a blend of movie sets from a John Wayne western and The Martian; incredible.
I did a lot of reading before making the trip and one photographer said that going to Arches and not photographing Delicate Arch is like going to the Louvre and not seeing the Mona Lisa. So, I made the scenic two mile, straight uphill hike and was rewarded with an amphitheater containing the great arch perched on its edge. I made this exposure after sunset which eliminated the harsh shadows you normally see.
